What would I do?
Beta readers are those who read unpublished versions of my books to provide me invaluable feedback. They make no corrections themselves. Beta readers give me opinions, ask me questions on the content or writing process, give me suggestions, help me find flaws in the writing, and tell me what they especially like. I then make the needed corrections and, when updating the draft, will make improvements based on their suggestions.
Most beta readers read a hard-copy draft of my next book to publish on their own in a place of their choosing. We meet a minimum of three times per book for discussion sessions.
If you are unable to read the book on your own or desire a more immersive experience, you may choose to: A) Read aloud with the author, B) Read aloud while looking at the text on a screen, C) Hear an AI (artificial) voice read it. • These reading sessions will incorporate discussions. Learn more about the alternative formats.
The conversations that come out of beta reading will be enriching for everyone. • Beta readers can read one or more revisions of the next book to publish and potentially read more unpublished books in Cedar Series.
Sneak peaks and bonus materials
This round of beta readers will be the very first people to have the option to view all 3D buildings and public areas, 2D maps, hand-written materials, concept designs for book covers and any internal art that may be included, and tracking documents. These projects had not been started for the initial round of beta reading.
To deepen the experience, beta readers may choose to volunteer to work on any of the bonus materials listed above for as little or as long as they want.
Previewing or assisting with bonus material is just that, bonus. It is not required to be a beta reader.
